What Causes Pain Under The Ear Despite Taking Gabapentin For Trigeminal Neuralgia?
I had trigeminal neuralgia last year. I took Tegratol for 2 months and it bought me out in hives. I stopped taking it, and the pain seemed to have gone. Now, I have the same pain (electric shocks) under my ear and in my jaw. I have started taking Gabapentin which I had kept from before, but not taken. I have started on one and will take two tomorrow, but the pain is awful when I eat and cannot swallow saliva. Will these tablets take the pain away, and how soon?

Hi,
There might be a chance for recurrence of the pain due to the Trigeminal Neuralgia. You might need to restart Tegrital along with Gabapentin.
