What Causes Pain Under The Rib Cage, Shortness Of Breath And Intermittent Fever?

My 11 y/o granddaughter c/o sharp pain under the rib cage-mid chest, SOB, and an intermittent fever of 100.4 to 104.0 F. She was admitted in hospital overnight and multiple tests were done including CT w/contrast, and US of ABD, which basically just showed inflamed lymphnodes. Her blood work was normal. She was released this afternoon and now has a fever of 101.8 F. She had her appendix removed 2 years ago with similar symptoms. Doctor didn t see any indication of a gallstones. Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms are suggestive of inflammation of the respiratory tract, such as lower respiratory infection most likely.

Fever spikes would be acceptable for a period of 2-3 days after antibiotic starting.

Continue the medication and do not panic for the gallstones.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
