Hi. One morning I woke up with pain under my right rib cage. It was a little sore to touch. It hurts a whole lot when i take deep breaths, sneeze, or laugh. I have to hold my hand where the pain is when I sneeze in order to reduce the pain I would feel because when i sneeze it feels like my ribs will shatter. The pain comes on a couple of days and then disappears. Finally one day it disappeared completely. Now a year later the same pain has started again. It s exactly the same kind of pain, same area. It usually comes on in the middle of the night. I will go to the bathroom and upon returning to bed realize that the pain has started flaring up. Usually during the next day the pain worsens and then lasts for another five days. Just this weekend for the first time I developed this pain on the left rib cage. Now I have this pain on both sides. What could be causing this. My doctors did an ultrasound to check for gallstones that came up fine. I am 30 years old. 5 9 , 260 lbs. I am reletively healthy other than my weight. My blood pressure is good, cholesterol excellent, no diabetes or anything as I just had bloodwork done to check all of this. I have been having a little acid reflux as of late, but it s not chronic. I have been in three car accidents which has done some damage to my spine. The first two cars accidents I was rear-ended. However, this was 5 years ago. The last accident which was about 4 months ago, I hit someone else. When I went to the doctor I was told I had some arthritis on the right side of my spine. I have recently had two occasions where pain flares up in my back to the right of my spine and lasts two days and disappears.
