What Causes Pain Under The Ribcage After Coughing?

I am recovering from a lobectomy on my right lung and cough frequently to clear mucus. The other day I coughed a little too hard and my muscles in and around my stomach are sore. However on the other side I have pain under my left rib. Is this something I should be concerned with or will it go away? YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
With post lobectomy surgery... the excessive clear ucus secretions cause reflex cough.... Coughing causes strong muscular contractions in abdominal muscles &also diaggphram... which caused pain in healing tissue ( which was around the surgical incision).
As the healingproceeds.. this would resolve automatically.. Only thing is to keep the tissue safe from exposure to -
allerges/infections.,continue with medicines prescribed sincerely,Have healthy diet/vitamin supliments &optimum rest.
Thanks.
