Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell very hard on Feb. 6 & landed on my right ribs with my fist underneath. I didn t hurt too badly the first day, but then began hurting very bad on the second day & has continued ever since. It doesn t feel like the pain is coming from the ribs, but from under the ribs. Everything I do feels like I m pulling the muscles there. Sometimes it hurts in nearby areas like I ve been exercising or something. Maybe from compensating my movements? I ve also begun feeling mild pressure (almost like indigestion) around my heart/stomach area after a day of movement. I don t have any insurance because I ve been an unemployed teacher since May 2010. I know if it s cracked ribs there s nothing that can really be done anyway so I don t want to make another bill I can t afford to pay.
It could be a contusion and inflammatory pain. As of now you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and plan for a CT thorax.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
