Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a pain on my right side (for about a week now). I really can t tell if it s a rib that s hurting, or if it s inside. If I push on my ribs, it s very painful, but I haven t had any blows to my side. Do liver problems, kidney stones or gall stones have pain that intensifies if you push on your ribs?
You need to undergo a USG (Ultra-sonography) abdomen. Pain in right hypochondrium can be due to hepatic (e.g. abscess), renal (e.g. stone) or Gallbladder ( e.g. acute cholecystitis) cause etc. It will also detect any pleural effusion on the right side, which also can cause similar pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas,
Internal Medicine Specialist
