What Causes Pain Under The Right Shoulder Blade?

Hi! What causes a pain right under the right shoulder blade? Have had it off and on since in high school and am now a senior citizen. It seems to be worse after chores that require leaning over in a certain position, such as one would use when washing dishes in a sink. Thank you very much!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain under the right shoulder blade commonly occur due to bone spurs, pinched nerve, arteritis or frozen shoulder. You are suggested to get blood tests and X-ray, CT, MRI done to detect the factor causing pain. You will be treated accordingly. For relief, you can take acetaminophen or combiflam, one SOS when needed. Mild stretch exercises may help. Take vitamin E rich food or supplements (Evion-400), once daily for 10 days for better lubrication in the joints. However, sometimes shoulder pain may be indicative of gallstones or developing cardiac problems. Consult a GP, get thorough clinical examination done, get treated at the earliest. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
