Hi am a 22 year old male and I m experiencing pains underneath my lower rib cage and to the side on both sides right underneath the rib cage.I it feels like something is bulging underneath and I always put pressure on it to make it feelb better, almost feels like a bruise but it seems internallly , when I smoke pot on occasion this worsens the pain and also drinking alcohol can sometimes worsen it. I mostly feel the pain after smoking and sitting down, I dont really feel much when standing. I did have it checked out I had blood test and a urine test and all came back fine, my doctor told me it could be a muscle issue. is it possible to alcohol and smoking make a muscle hurt inside ? What do you think could be wrong with me ?
Smoking and alcohol may cause pleural effusion sometimes which I can know in chest X-ray. it is collection of fluid beneath your lower ribs. this is also painful. Hence, get an X-ray chest done to rule out that and then if everything is normal it might be muscle issue only. Physiotherapy will help you in relieving muscle pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
