What Causes Pain Upon Swallowing Post An Episode Of Sneezing Fit?
Hi I had a sneezing fit and after I finally stopped sneezing my throat started to hurt everytime I swallow my salvia. Why does this happen? (This is not the first time but its painful and I wanted to know if this is normal) what can i do to make the pain go away?
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Pain during swallowing is called odynophagia. It could be from upper respiratory tract infection, tumor mass, ulcer, acute pharyngitis etc. You are having sneezing and cold history. Hence it seems mostly from upper respiratory tract infection or pharyngitis. Your posterior pharynx and nose should be examined.
For congestion, relief decongestant like phenylephrine might prescribed but if posterior pharynx edema is severe and there is more inflammation then short term steroid is prescribed.
Use warm water for drinking. Avoid excess spicy foods. Avoid smoking if you have the habit. Consult physician for examination with keeping all this in mind.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
