What Causes Pain While Passing Stool After Hysterectomy?

I had a hysterectomy back in September 2011. I 've noticed that when I have a bowel movement, I need to push more and experience pain afterwards. I was told that I need more fiber in my diet and advised to drink more water, which has helped to soften my stool; however, I am still experiencing pain. Is there something else I can do?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, do not exert the force at the time of defecation it may cause the pain and other complication too, you can keep continue fiber diet and drink more water, keep regular habit of defecation but do not exert the force no matter if you do not pass the stool.
Along with the fiber containing diet you can try Isabgol powder prior to bed, no need to be over conscious if do not pass the stool, but just take it easy it is okay if you do not pass the stool for couple days, in absence of water and fiber diet it is likely that you may not pass the stool.
hope this information helps.
