What Causes Painful And Hard Piece Of Something Sticking Out Of Gums?

I just had xrays on my teeth about a month ago and no abnormal growths were found in my gums. I have a painful small hard (tooth like) piece of something sticking out of my gums on the inside of my jaw near my wisdom tooth on the left side. I don't know if it's a bone spurt or whatever. Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain it seems that you have an erupting supernumerary tooth which is an extra tooth other than the 32 permanent teeth and when it is located on buccal [towards cheek] or lingual[towards tongue] side of the molar it is known as PARAMOLAR while if it is buccal or lingual to the wisdom tooth or next to wisdom tooth it is known as a DISTOMOLAR or FOURTH MOLAR..

It seems to be the most probable cause of a hard tooth like structure near wisdom tooth in your case..
You should get a full mouth x -ray known as ORTHOPANTOMOGRAM done as there can be supernumerary teeth present in other arches too while the one that is sticking out of the gums will also be ruled out that whether it is a supernumerary tooth or a sharp overgrown bone although the overgrown bone or torus mostly does not pierce out of gums..

In case if it it a supernumerary tooth and it is causing discomfort extraction of the same can be done for relief..

Hope this information helps..
