What Causes Painful And Itchy Blisters On The Hands?

Hi. I am bipolar and I also have systemic lupus. I have been under an extreme amount of stress lately-started a new job, moved/bought a home, and am in a custody battle for my daughter. I ve developed painful, itchy water blisters all over my hands (fingers,knuckles especially). Is this something physical brought on my mental illness or is this a lupus flare up?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* The painful blisters sound to be related to sun exposure, Staph aureus infection over pre-existing skin lesion or else.
* My guidelines at present
- Consult your GP for sterile dressing to cover the blisters.
- Ice application for primary relief.
- Analgesic ibuprofen works for pain relief as well as edema decline.
- Need antibiotic prescription (as I prefer cephalosporin drugs) from PCP.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
