What Causes Painful And Swollen Anus After Having Anal Sex?
Dr. Rogala, my GF and I have been experimenting with anal penetration in the form of a strap on. Turns out the dildo we were using must have been to large cause once she got it inside me it hurt something awful and still does after three days now. I haven t really noticed any bleeding but my anus is really puffy and swollen it hurts to poop. Did I damage my anus will the pain go away or should I go to the ER or what do you sugest I do? Rick

Pain or swelling over anus be related to proctitis (inflammation of anus) or anal fissure as per your history of anal penetration but it needs further evaluation by general surgeon by clinical examination of anus.
Here, if you would be of my patient then I will advice you to take,
1) small course of antibiotics (ofloxacin with ornidazole),
2) analgesics(if associated pain),
3) lignocaine anesthetic gel or cream(to be applied 4) over anus after every bowel movement) for symptomatic relief and
5) will do anal examination to rule out any other pathology.
Also,avoid spicy and oily foods,take bland diet for initial few days and lignocaine anesthetic ointment or cream which might alleviate your pain sensation.
If symptoms persists then better to go to ER and consult general surgeon for thoroughly examination and treatment.
