What Causes Painful Blisters On Labia Prior To Onset Of Menstruation?

A few days before my period comes, I get small bumps either on the inside or outside of my labia. They are painful and do not contain puss or blood, etc. They will usually go away after a few days, but seem to pop like a blister and are raw until the heal. Any idea what this may be?
