What Causes Painful Bowel Movement And Abdominal Cramps After Paragard IUD Insertion?

Hi, I had a paragard IUd inserted 5 months ago. Things seem to be okay aside from the pain I get sometimes hours before a bowel movement. It s an intense cramping in my entire lower pelvic area including in the outer areas of my vagina. It does not let up until I m finally able to use the bathroom. It hurts to walk and sometimes even breath while the pain is hitting me at its strongest. This only happens before a bowel movement and I never had this happen prior to the iud.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't think this is related to IUD usage. I think this can be related to uterine prolapse or any other pathology of uterus such myomas. Further evaluations are needed such an ultrasound and physical examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
