Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a bump on my inner thigh it was really painful with poked or simply ttouched I ve had it for like a week and a half ago but today when looked at it it seemed to have some kind of pus inside but when i popped it some kind of brownish looking liquid drained out sadly I don t have any pictures any suggestions??
Your lump seems to be any of the following like: 1) Boil 2) Carbuncle 3) Folliculitis 4) Infected sebaceous cyst The following are treatment options I would recommend to those who come to my clinic with similar symptoms: 1) Thorough clinical examination of the lump 2) Incision and drainage should be performed initially, and the fluid drained should be sent to bacterial culture 3) Oral antibiotics may be necessary like: 1) Clindamycin for 5 days Or 2) Cephalexin for 5 days 3) NSAIDs like Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen are used to reduce pain and inflammation 4) Topical Mupirocin ointment to be applied for 5 days Kindly consult a surgeon who may incise and drain all the fluid from the lump and then you can use the above treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
