What Causes Painful Bumps And Sores In Throat While Having Diabetes?

I am a 23 year old Nigerian. Over a week ago,i started feeling itchy in my throat as if I wanted to cough, then I discovered that the part of my neck which is a little bit under the chin started paining me. I checked my tongue and there were red bumps at d inner area or back of my tongue. The bumps are like sores but are not flat with d surface of the tongue. I was advised by a pharmacist to take amoxicilin and I used it for a week but still no change. Later someone prescribed some antifungal and antibacterial drugs and I ve been on it for two days now. The bumps are still there and I started feeling that the upper hard part of my mouth is rough wen I touch it with d tip of my tongue. Almost Three months ago I discovered that the all the hard upper part of the mouth was darker than other regions and though I had sore on my mouth then,i gargled with water and took vitamin C and I was relieved so I didn t bother to follow up on the dark area. Now I m concerned about the pain and the bumps and the dark area of the upper part of the mouth which I recently discover that its rough when I touch with the tip of my tongue. Could these be symptoms for cancer or diabetes as I am a 23 year old and I don t smoke, don t drink alcohol, and I don t have any family history of cancer or diabetes though for sometime now I ve been urinating more than 3 times a day, sometimes 5 times. Two years ago,i was diagnosed with anxiety disorder decided to put this info in case it is needed. I also do feel pain in one or two of my teeth sometimes since the bumps started. My concern now is am I at risk of cancer of the mouth or diabetes? Please I need to know. Thanks.

Hi,

It seems your are too worried. If you do not have fever/sore throat/pain there, these bumps or darkness need not be taken as significant. Also, cancer in oral cavity present as chronic ulcers rather than recent onset bumps.

It is normal to see some red bumps on back of tongue- these are actually taste buds(papillae) or lingual tonsils. Some darkness or roughness also is common and need not be worried. These are not related to cancer or diabetes.

So in my opinion, there is nothing to be worried in your case. Still, if you are too anxious, you can get it examined with your doctor to calm yourself.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
