What Causes Painful Cramps After Placing Splint On Fractured Right Lower Leg?

I suffered a fracture in my lower right leg from a motor vehicle accident. My leg was put in a full splint from mid thigh to foot. When my leg is elevated, after about 30 to 45 minutes, the top of my foot starts cramping and I have to stand up to stop the pain. Could my splint be too tight? Should I return to the ER to have it re wrapped?

wellcome to hcm,
see the cramps which you are getting are mostly due to decrease in blood supply to tissues i.e. hypoperfusion. i think your splint is not tight but you need to increse the blood supply to your coot by placing it with gravity.
