What Causes Painful Cyst Developing On Face?

I have a cyst that has grown from a flat round (pencil eraser size) mark on the side of my face near my temple to the size of a grape and wasn t painful until about 1 week ago. I saw a dermatologist and am scheduled to have it removed in another two weeks, but am concerned since it has grown since my appointment two weeks ago and is now painful.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello welcome to HCM. I think this swelling seems to be dermoid cysts. These are swellings with secretions collected within it. These does not go off on itself. It should be removed. But it should not be infected, as you are saying it is painful. If the cyst is infected, it will become painful and colour change. Infection should be treated before removing. Dont worry about the procedure. when it is removed, local injections containing anaesthesia will be given. so it wont pain while removing. If you feel it is infected go and show it to dermatologist in one or two days. Take care.
