my wife is suffering from fibrodonosis from last one year i.e after historectomy of removing uterus and overies. Mammography and ultrasound scanning shows small cysts on both breasts. But she is having pain for 5 to 6 days in a month. At present she is taking primrose oil tablets. Kindly advise me whether any risk for cancer in future eventhough no family background.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Cysts in the breasts could become painful only if it is infected. Hence it needs to be treated by administration of analgesics and appropriate antibiotics. If it doesn't subside, it needs to be explored and drained surgically with antibiotic cover.
