Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Painful Hard Raised Area On Outer Corner Of Right Thumb And Knuckle Joint?
I have this tiny, raised area on the outer corner of my right thumb knuckle joint and it feels like it s hard as bone and roundish. It also hurts...especially if pushed on much. It crept up on me over the past week after using my thumb a lot for repetitive tasks and I find it hard to believe bone could grow that fast. Could it just be really firm swelling from inflammation, as I have some arthritis in that joint from repeated use of it, especially over the past year or two? I am hoping this will go away.
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
The symptoms can be relate to overuse of the thumb. Rheumatoid arthritis is another potential cause of thumb pain. I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application at the painful area.
Hope my answer was helpful.
If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.
Kind regards!
