What Causes Painful Intercourse?

I am a 64 year old widow who hadn’t had sexual activity for 8 years. I finally had intercourse this evening but had a very difficult time with penetration. Initially, it was very painful, but with time, I relaxed and was able to enjoy it. However, there is bright red blood when I went to the restroom. Should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
It's lack of sex for years &also age wise bodily changes (specially after menopause) causing contraction of vaginal orifice to cause the trouble.

A little blood after the stretching of vagina is permissible. But considerable bleeding after sex does need immediate attention.
I would advise an internal check up by a gynecologist to exclude possibility of untoward sign.

Thanks.

Regards
