What Causes Painful Intercourse?

I’ve been taking the microgynon ed fe (28 pills) since September 2017. On February 17th of this year, I started using the microgynon 30 because no pharmacy anywhere had (I checked for 80 miles). The pharmacists had assured me that they were the same thing just one came with vitamins and one didn’t. My period was supposed to come 2nd March but hasn’t and now it’s the 12th. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Could it be a false negative? It actually hurts to have sex now and no I have no infections. What could be the problem?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Birth control pills usually contain progesterone in the last few days cycle. It can cause vaginal dryness and soreness which probably is the reason for painful intercourse.

This type of pills can delay menstrual bleeding in some patients so wait another week and repeat pregnancy test after the week. You can also confirm pregnancy by consulting the gynecologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
