Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have small red itchy bumps on my hands that are hurting every time i itch them. My son now has them on his hands too. His are very itchy as well and red. i have asked my doctor many times what they could be. She does not have an answer for me. My doctor has told me that they are not contagious yet, my son now has them on him. My mother said that it could be chiggers (red bugs). I also have these red marks on my skin they are not raised but it looks like little veins under my skin and bleeding under my skin maybe... I m not as sure how to explain them. They do not hurt nor itch.
Itchy bumps on hand could most likely to be allergic reaction to insect bite or infections like scabies or bacterial infection.Complete disinfection of your room and clothes should be done.
Antihistamines and steroids should be used in case of allergic reaction.Scabies should be treated with permethrin lotion application all over the body from below neck and is to be washed after 4 hours.
Complete blood count should be done to identify any abnormal cell counts such as high eosonophil counts.Any history of fever or recent long distance travel should be ruled out.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards Dr.Saranya Ramadoss, General and Family Physician
