What Causes Painful Larynx And Feeling Of Having Something In Throat?

I recently discovered that my larynx is painful to touch from the outside. It s seems localised to the larynx area and even slightly above or below and either side isn t tender. I haven t had problems swallowing, change in voice or feel like I have something stuck in my throat but I do some times wake up during the night with a severe pain in my ear which feels like my ear is folded in half. I do intend to see my doctor but just wondered if anyone could advise me as to what it is as my mind is running wild. Thanks

Hi,

Pain or foreign body sensation over throat, along with ear pain probably suggest a lesion, ,may be infective/inflammatory/neoplastic, over pharynx, causing eustachian tube dysfunction.

Kindly consult an ENT specialist for evaluation of the same. Meanwhile, you can take acetaminophen for pain relief. Doing valsalva may help opening of eustachian tube.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
