What Causes Painful Lump Below Knee Cap Post Injury?
I skateboard and I fall on my right knee a lot, and a lump has developed over time. Its closer to the right side just below my right knee cap where I fall on it lots and it has been there for almost a year. It's slightly numb on one side but a sharp pain when I kneel on it the wrong way or land on it(as expected) but it hasn't gone away, and I don't know what it is.
After trauma, the initial swelling can undergo fibrosis which is the formation of scar tissue.
This can cause a residual lump in the area that can take sometimes weeks to months to resolve. It is not normally painful however, if you are experiencing pain, it may be best to visit your doctor for an assessment.
I hope this helps
