What Causes Painful Lump Beside The Auditory Meatus Of Ear?

I have a lump by my auditory meatus on my left ear. It hurts when I touch it and put pressure on it. There is a slight redness discolouration. The size is fairly small (about the size of the ball of a pen) and the size can really on be detected if you feel it. I m quit worries as I ve had it for about a year now (on and off). Why is it there and what should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As the lump is appearing off and on for the last one year, I will suggest that a biopsy of the lesion should be done to confirm/rule out any infection like tuberculosis or even some lymphoplasia.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
