What Causes Painful Lump On Right Foot While Having Celiac Disease?

my brother has a lump painful lump on his right foot near the ankle but lower, closer to his toes. He does not remember hurting his foot. It s a little red, and swollen, big toe feels a little swollen. Could this be a blood clot, should he go to emergency to have them look at it? He has Celiac Disease and takes a Thyroid Med. He is 65 yrs old. Please let me know if he should go to hospital, thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

One of the common causes of lump in the feet is ganglion cyst. They are usually benign and don't require treatment.
In case of pain you can use a painkiller such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three time a day.
Cold compresses can also help the symptoms.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
