What Causes Painful Lumps On The Lower Leg?

My plastic surgeon did a biopsy on 1 of my 3 lumps on my lower leg. He is convinced it is NLD, however, the biopsy result is necrotizing fat. Are these 2 different conditions? It is extremely painful and I am on 1200 mg Trileptal along with 600mg lyrica for TN. The spots are peeling and weeping, red and swollen.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Necrosis is a cell injury which results in the premature death of cells.

Sometimes fat necrosis goes away on its own.

If a needle aspiration is done to remove the fluid in an oil cyst, it can also serve as treatment.

When the lump or lumpy area gets bigger or becomes painful surgery may be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
