What Causes Painful Lumps Under The Skin Of Labia Minora?
I am experiencing three painful lumps underneath the skin of my labia majora. Two are very small and one is quite large (around the size of a pea). These lumps have been around for quite awhile now; however, they usually flare up and hurt for only a few days and then go away. Are these boils?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. The painful lumps under skin of labia minora are from sebacious glands underneath the skin there, with blocked ducts & probably infection thus causing pain& inflammation in one of them. Carelessness about genital hygiene/ urine problem in either of sex partners/ vaginal infection can cause it. If you don't have fever.. you can - - Be careful about genital hygiene, - take schitz bath/ local hot compresses. - Take Ibuprofen like anti inflammatory drug orally. Relief will be there within a couple of days. In case there is no relief/ you get fever - consult a gynecologist for advise of suitable antibiotic along with personal care. Thanks.
