What Causes Painful Mouth Sore?

My son who is 45 pounds is using Mupirocin for soars he has on his body as well as being on an antiobiotic for impetigo. We just noticed a sore on inside of his mouth, he is a thumb sucker, and we were applying this to outside of his mouth on cold sore but it may have gotten inside of his mouth. Could that create this sore?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain firstly cold sore is a viral infection and Muricoprin can help in treating bacterial infection..
So you are using Muricoprin for Impetigo that is bacterial infection and not viral..
Although cold sores can occur inside the oral cavity also but any medication can be given only after a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like mouth swab culture...
I would suggest you to consult a Paediatrician and get him evaluated and after a thorough clinical evaluation only confirmed diagnosis can be made and treatment can be done..
As of now if there is pain in the sore apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over it..
Sucking ice pops can help..
Give soft bland diet..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
