What Causes Painful Muscle Spasms?

I have had an acute, painful muscular reaction within the past few days. It is more than exercised induced (I am a teacher and it s the last week of school, so not much working out). I feel as though I ve just run my first 20 miles in training, but I haven t. Sharp muscular pains ALL over my body combined with constant muscular pain. I ve never felt anything like this when there s no active reason for my body to feel this way. Hard to stand up and sit down.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There may be many causes of muscle spasm, from dehydration, magnesium or potassium low levels, not stretching enough etc. Try to hydrate yourself, do stretching activities, eat lots of vegetables and calcium-rich foods. Vitamine intake may boost your energy as well.

Stay away from cold and have a good sleep. If symptoms continue, take an appointment with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suzana Zharri,
