What Causes Painful Penis, Joint Pain And Loss Of Appetite While Having Prostatitis?

I have a 34 year old son. has lost about 40 pounds in about a year (not trying). has been treated for prostatitis twice with Cipro (no change.) has a pain inside the shaft and at the base of his penis. also is experiencing pain to tailbone and both upper thighs. over the past couple weeks, he is having random joint pains. sometimes causing his legs to buckle or to just not walk for a little while. he has been checked for std s, labs were all normal (6 months ago). dr just said symptoms pointed to prostatitis. no bowel issues. doesn t have any trouble with urination. appetite is gone (just eats cause he knows he has too. what should we do next?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It might be an associated urethritis. Consult a urologist and get evaluated. Antibiotics has to be started at the earliest. You can go for a urine pregnancy test and start antibiotics accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
