What Causes Painful Red Lump On The Edge Of The Naval?

I have a small bump/lump on the edge of my naval, that I noticed yesterday. It was red, tender to the touch, and if I did anything movement wise where clothing, or skin touched it, it hurts. Today the redness has spread, the lump is the same size, and the pain is the same.

I can understand your concern and would try to help you in the best possible way. From the information provided by you it seems like you are having folliculitis or follicular abscess or cellulitis in the area. However a visual examination of the lesion is warranted to make a definitive diagnosis.

I suggest you consult your GP for an examination and further management plan as per the diagnosis.
