What Causes Painful Sores And Blisters All Over The Mouth?

I have clusters of mouth sores/blisters all over my mouth and under my tongue with a sore throat. I didn t eat anything different so it s not an allergic reaction. I ve had these sores since Monday now and I m just getting more and they re getting more painful as time goes on. Any idea what it is?

I have gone through your health query and can very well understand your health concerns..

As per complain clusters of blisters or sores all over mouth is a most probable presentation of Viral infection causing COLD SORES and it is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 1.

In case if Herpes is not the cause one other most common cause of painful mouth sores is Apthous Ulcers/ Canker Sores..
You need to consult a dentist and get a clinical examination done and in case if viral infection is suspected investigations like Polymerase chain reaction,antigen-antibody reaction and viral culture can help in confirming the diagnosis..

Antiviral oral and topical drugs can help in reducing the duration of sores as well as prevent outbreaks..

In case of canker sores saline gargles, gargle with 1:1 solution of benadryl and milk of magnesia can be relieving..
In case if the sores does not respond a steroid therapy like Prednisone has to be taken..

For pain in sores OTC painkiller like Ibuprofen can be taken..
Apply Lignocaine gel over sores to relieve pain..
Avoid spicy food as it can cause discomfort..
Sucking on ice pops can help..
