What Causes Painful Swelling From A Bee Sting In A Foot’s Sole?
my 10 year old was stung by a bee (we think it was a bee) on the bottom of her foot. this was four days ago and it remains red and swollen. A friend suggested she may have blood poisoning but she has no fever or elevated temperature. Shes in some pain but otherwise in good spirits. should we be concerned?
hello it is normal to have a local reaction in the area for about 2 days. It is not blood poisoning it is the local reaction for bee sting. If you are not having itching, facial swelling mainly around the eyes or fever , you don't have to worry. Sometimes when the bee stinger is inside the skin local reaction is more. You can apply an ice pack and take a pain killer for the pain. If the swelling and redness is not reducing you can try hydrocortisone cream or antihistamine cream. You can remove bee stinger by pushing it forward behind entry site or by scraping skin around. But don't use a tweezer or don't scratch the area around. It would infect the site. thank you. Hope this helps.
