What Causes Painful Swelling On Left Side Of Lower Skull With Bump On Back Of Neck?

Hi only on the left side of my lower skull where the hard bone is swells up every so often and causes me a great deal of pain. Since it does go away after a week or two I don t get it looked at. But now I have a small bump in the back of my neck under the skin (left) side that can be moved with touch but yet isn t tender. It s a new symptom that I have noticed this time. I m just wondering is there any reason for concern?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

A tender swelling at base of neck could be due to inflamed lymph node. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment, relevant investigations like fine needle aspiration cytology for diagnosis and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
