What Causes Painful Swelling On The Right Elbow?

I had a swelling on my right elbow 4 wks ago, it was hot, red and painful. Went to see a doctor, took some blood test, and fluids for culture but all the test came out negative to infection or anything else. Was prescribed antibiotics after seeing the doctor and the swelling and pain disappeared. Now the pain is coming back and a little swelling but not bad. I was told it will go away if I stop putting pressure on it but I need some more answers on what causing it. Will you be able to tell me without seeing it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I suggest you to have some tests:

1. Right elbow USG
2. Complete blood count
3. Test for rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-citrullinated protein antibodies

Please do inform if there is any history of injury or hit. Without delay, you should do the tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
