What Causes Painful Tightness In Right Hip?

my right hip has been extremely tight in the joint area. I have not done anything that would have caused that. Today, when I got up from my desk and tried to put weight on it, it was quite painful. I had the left hip replaced 14 years ago, but never had pain in this area before. any ideas on what it might be?

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would like to explain that your symptoms may be related to bone degeneration of this joint or just inflammation.

The fact that the pain is concentrated in this area, is in favor of this diagnosis.

Do you feel pain, even when you do passive movement of your thigh with your hands, or when your rotate your thigh internally or externally?

In such a case, I recommend consulting with an orthopedist for a careful physical examination and an x ray study of your left hip joint.

A CT scan of the joint may be needed.

Meanwhile I recommend taking ibuprofen for the pain and perform physiotherapy, avoiding walking for long distances for some days.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes,

Dr. Aida
