1. It seems you are suffering from uvulitis and possible reason are mainly infection [streptococcus] and/or trauma.
2. painful swallowing [dysphagia], salivation, nasal regurgitation,
redness are common findings of swollen uvula so one should also think of
pharyngitis,
tonsillitis,
alcohol abuse,dryness of throat as the cause.
3. Consult your local Doctor or visit an E.N.T. surgeon for physical examination and necessary
blood test like:
. Increase in WBC might suggest infection
. throat or uvula culture helps decide which microorganism is responsible for uvulitis
. He might prescribe broad spectrum antibiotics and anti allergic medication [to reduce swelling]
4. Till then:
. Steam Inhalation 3-4 times/day [add to boiling water- tincture benzoin,vicks]
. Warm salt water gargles
. Stop smoking/alcohol
. voice rest
. turmeric and ginger has natural anti inflammatory property so take a decoction of the two
. drink plenty of water/juice to maintain hydration
. euclyptus cough drops/honey are good option
. Avoid acidic foods, chocolate, citrus fruits, chips and try to relax, especially if particularly stressed or anxious.
