What Causes Painful Urination After Taking Plan-B?
Hi, I took the morning after pill and was bleeding heavy for five days and now it s slowing stopping, the problem I have is much more to do with when I urinate, it s hurts and have been drinking lots of water and cranberry juice, this has helped, but I m still in abit of pain and just want it to go away. Which medicine should I take and what else can I do so that I m no longer feeling the side effects of the pill and stop UTI pain I have. Email: YYYY@YYYY
This is mostly due to UTI and is unrelated to contraceptive pill. Urinary tract infections are the commonest bacterial infection in older people and the risk increases with age. Women suffer more frequently from recurrent UTI than men because of their shorter urethra and proximity of urethral opening to anus. Advice 1. Ciprofloxacin 500 mg per oral every 12 hours for 7 days 2. You can change antibiotic after culture and sensitivity report 3. Syrup alkaline citrate 2 teaspoonful three times daily for 1 week 4. Investigations – R/E urine, C/S urine 5. Drink plenty of water to flush out bacteria 6. Drink cranberry juice 7. Do not hold your urine. Urinate when you feel 8. Wipe from front to back after bowel movements 9. Urinate after having sex to flush bacteria Thanks
