What Causes Painful Urination And Testicle Pain While Treating Gonorrhea Infection?

I ve been treated for gonorrhea, as I got the symptoms of it. Got 250mg of Ceftriaxone injection, and 1g of azithromycin by mouth 8 days ago. I never had major discharge of any sort (because I got treated at day 6 days after infection?), have a slight burning sensation when I urinate. But starting today, I have pain in my right testicles. I read that this pain might go away in the next week, is this normal, or should I go to Doctor again?

Hello,

Many a times in patients with gonorrhea and other STDs there can be testicular pain. Because gonorrhea can also cause epididymitis leading to testicular pain. With full antibiotic course completion and with resolving of gonococcal infection even the testicular pain will subside. SO please complete the full course of antibiotics as suggested by your doctor. That should help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar, Diabetologist
