Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
48 year black female. I have noticed over the last 2 years that when i start my period the very first day I have excruciating pain when trying to urinate or have a bowel movement. I have never experienced giving birth, but the pain makes me have to hold on to the bars in the bathroom stall at work or grasp the sink in the bathroom at home. Any idea of what this could be? I do have a fibroid, but it's i believe 2 millimeters in size (i think that's small says my doctor).
Hello, Fibroids can be painful and since during periods uterus is already tender it can enhance the pain. I would suggest to get abdominopelvic scan and complete urine examination to rule out any urinary infection and also to see if the fibroid has increased in size. I hope this has been helpful Wish you good health.
