What Causes Painful Urination Following Laproscopic Appendectomy?

My five year old son had laparoscopic appendectomy three weeks ago. He had a catheter that was removed 24 hours after the procedure. He had an NG tube for several days, and on the eighth day he had an abscess drained. He was released from the hospital on the tenth day and given oral antibiotics for four days. He has had painful urination throughout and today we went to pediatrician and he does not have a UTI. Fever of 99.8. Any suggestions as to what it could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

He is having painful urination and fever which shows a positive sign for UTI.

He may need to do an uroculture.

Using a catheter may have caused him to have an infection and possibly a nosocomial infection taken in the hospital they most probably will be too aggressive.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
