Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Painful Urination, Pain In The Bladder And Low Grade Fever?
Burning in urinating, pain n burning on left side, low grade fever for over 3 weeks. Took antibiotic Percin 600 for five days ( prescribed by my local physician) ... slight improvement was felt but the fever persisted. My age is 70, wt. 48 kg and I have no other health issues like diabetes or BP. Pls advise
If you are still having fevers after 5 days of antibiotics, I would suspect that the bacteria causing the UTI is resistant to the antibiotic, or that there is another reason for your symptoms. I would check with your doctor to see if a urine culture was done, and what bacteria it grew, and what antibiotics are effective against it. Otherwise, I would check your urinalysis again to confirm what the cause of the pain is.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
