What Causes Painful White Bumps On The Outside Of Lips?

Hello doctor, I have a question about white bumps on the outside of my lips. I think they used be black heads but I continued to touch them to try to get rid of them and they just got swollen. Theyre painful to touch and when I try to pop them , it is impossible. It is 100% sure not oral herpes

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain painless white bumps over the lips can be Fordyce's spots which are raised Sebaceous glands and as you have continuously tried to touch them and also pops they may get irritated and swollen..
While other causes can be Herpes Virus Infection causing cold sores or can also be due to bacterial infection or allergies..
A confirmation of cause can be done by a Dermatologist by thorough clinical evaluation and investigations as per the suspected cause..
As of now you can do cool compresses over the swollen lips..
Apply a thick coat of petroleum jelly over the lips.
In case if the diagnosis is ruled out as Fordyce's spots no treatment is necessary as they are harmless while laser removal can be done in case if it is compromising you cosmetically..
In case of viral infection anti-viral oral and topical medication can be advised..
In case of bacterial infection anti-bacterial medication can help..
