What Causes Painful Yellow Colored Tissue In A Child Post Tonsillectomy?

I had a tonsilectomy when I was a child and a small piece of tissue was left. It has always looked like a reddish colored nodule, until recently. It now is a yellow-white color and is painful. It feels almost as if a hard piece of food is stuck in my throat. Is there anything I can do to make it feel better?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have infection in throat and the yellowish white nodule seems to be due to inflammation in the lymphatic tissue left due after Tonsillectomy procedure..
Due to inflammation and pain thee is a feeling of something stuck in throat..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and can also advise investigations like throat swab culture to rule out the exact cause of infection and treat accordingly..
He can advise you to take antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day..
Do steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room.
You can also suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat and relieve pain..
You can take a soft diet and completely avoid spicy and hard foods as they can increase Inflammation due to irritation..
In case if the symptoms does not improve or there is recurring infection removal of the tissue can be done.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
