What Causes Painfully Bruised And Swollen Hip?
Hi, I had a fall on to my right hip/buttock. very painfull and swollen. I have just developed extensive bruising today (9 days after the fall) nothing on x-rays which were taken 9 days ago. I am male, 49, fit and well, have dense bones (last checked I had a bone density of 195) I do not bruise easily and cant remember my last bruise despite having had a number of heavy knocks etc Do I need to be concerned? Nothing to worry about with bruising after a contusion like that and the swelling is probably a hematoma--a pool of blood under the skin. That will be absorbed in time and the bruising will soon resolve itself.
