Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Painless Lumps On Either Side Of Scalp?
I have, what feels like, a hard painless bump on my head. Directly at the point where most men start to lose their hair. Not in the center of my head but more towards the back/crown area? Not pain Not splitting Headaches No nausea or vomiting No blurry vision or bodily weakness No memory loss or any such thing. I think it MIGHT just be a part of my skull, considering where it is. It seems to flow with the shape of my head. It is rather hard to explain. I FEEL the bump on one side of my skull but the other side of the bump seems to be even level with the rest of my head. Sort of like a slope. Could my head possibly not be perfectly round?
Scalpfolliculitis, acne or cysts are some of the causes of bumps over the scalp. Folliculitis refers to the skin infections of the hair follicles. Antibiotic course of 5 days is required to reduce the infections. Cysts may require surgical intervention.
Blood sugar levels should be checked since diabetes can be an important cause of multiple boils or lumps in the body. Blood cholesterol levels and X-ray (head) may be required to rule out cholesterol induced lipomas and any bony growth.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
