What Causes Painless Lumps On The Head?

I am a 25 year old student. I have just been told of a painless lump on my head/skull when my hair was being set. I have never noticed it before and there pay much attention to it lately when combing my hair. I don t know if it has been there since birth. Please what do I do? Should I be concerned?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As many such swellings can be developmental and/or benign in nature and does not require any management at all, it should not be ignored before it is diagnosed harmless.

I would advise you to visit a physician for physical examination of the involved area and further investigations. You might need to get blood tests, x-ray of the skull, CT scan, MRI and/or biopsy. After the test results, specific diagnosis can be reached and management can be decided.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
